Paul & Katharine Schmidt Library

The Paul and Katharine Schmidt Library located at the Walworth County History Center holds a wide variety of important books and maps related to Walworth County, the State of Wisconsin and the United States. The non-circulating library, under the supervision of the staff, allows the visitor access to collections of books by both Walworth County and Wisconsin authors, county and Wisconsin history as well as military history.

Our Story

Since 1904

The Walworth County Historical Society was incorporated August 29, 1904.

In its 1906 report to the State Historical Society it was stated that the Walworth County historical Society held “a great collection of books, pamphlets, circulars, maps, charts, diagrams, pictures, autograph letters, and relics of real interest.”
